After Cloud9 won a CS:GO Major tournament, one of its players had their gun skin auctioned off for $61,052. You read that right, $61,052. The Dragon Lore skin can only be acquired at Valve sponsored tournaments through very expensive souvenir package drops. This skin is extremely rare and would probably require an absurd amount of money to get it.
I don’t mean to be judgmental but that seems ludicrous to spend that kind of money on a skin. I mean I spend money on stuff people would see as a waste of money. As I look up from my desk I can see my ever growing collection of games and anime figures. To each their own but that’s a lot of money to drop on something like that. It seems very out of touch with reality. I guess affluent people have more money then they know what to do with.
As someone who doesn’t play Counter Strike. I can’t understand the seedy underbelly that surrounds its culture. These highly competitive shooters never appealed to me. If anyone reading this can enlighten me please do so. I just don’t get it.
